ADDCON, a company of Esseco Industrial, has been awarded the Feed Formulation Latin America Innovation Award 2025 during VICTAM LatAm in São Paulo, Brazil. The award, organized by Milling and Grain, recognizes the most cutting-edge solutions in the field of animal nutrition. The spotlight is on pwrPlanz EMC, an innovative product for swine production based on a unique combination of medium- and long-chain fatty acids, aromatic compounds, and functional fibers.
The entire ADDCON feed team played a role in this important achievement: from lab research to field trials, every step was driven by passion, expertise, and a shared vision. The award was accepted by Nicolás Greiffenstein (Regional Sales Manager – LATAM), who represented the company at the event. Special thanks go to DVM Stevan Petrović, Product Manager, and Christian Lückstädt, Technical Director, for their pivotal roles in the development of pwrPlanz EMC.
A new approach to more sustainable livestock farming
pwrPlanz EMC was developed to address one of the most urgent challenges in pig farming: reducing the use of antibiotics, especially during the critical post-weaning period. Gastrointestinal diseases remain a constant threat to piglet health, and for decades, antibiotic treatments have been the standard response.
ADDCON offers a different solution—one that relies on natural antimicrobial action, thanks to a concentrated blend of selected fatty acids. The product has shown effectiveness against Gram-positive bacteria such as Streptococcus suis, Staphylococcus aureus, Clostridium perfringens, and Streptococcus agalactiae.
Commercial trials conducted in Spain and Germany involving over 13,000 piglets confirmed the product’s benefits: pwrPlanz EMC helped reduce post-weaning mortality, even without the use of veterinary-prescribed antibiotics. In one study, the results were comparable to those obtained with amoxicillin in controlling Streptococcus suis infections.
