Pala Dal Lago in Novara: the new timber roof takes shape

Another important milestone has been reached in the transformation of the former swimming pool at Pala Dal Lago in Novara into a new accessible, multi-purpose sports facility.

In recent months, construction work has focused particularly on the upper part of the building. The first step involved the safe removal and disposal of approximately 1,500 square metres of asbestos-containing suspended ceiling, followed by the dismantling of the old roof and its supporting trusses.

Structural reinforcement work was then carried out, strengthening the columns using carbon fibre. The project is now entering a new phase with the installation of the new timber roof, a design choice that reflects the building’s redevelopment objectives and commitment to environmental sustainability.

Meanwhile, work is also progressing inside the building, with the construction of new internal partitions and the installation of the systems required for the future sports facility.

Step by step, a space that has remained unused for years is being transformed into a modern, accessible facility designed primarily for inclusive sport, as part of the project promoted by Polisportiva San Giacomo. The initiative aims to give the city back a space dedicated to sport, participation and inclusion.

Esseco is among the financial supporters of this major redevelopment project, reflecting its strong ties to the local area and its commitment to making a tangible contribution to an initiative that creates value for the community. We are proud to stand alongside Polisportiva San Giacomo in breathing new life into a historic sporting venue in Novara, bringing it back into use for the benefit of the community.
