Over the past weeks, Esseco Industrial took part in the technical conference “Contatto Acqua”, promoted by Federchimica, representing AISPEC, the Association of Fine and Specialty Chemical Companies.
During the event, which focused on the implementation of Articles 11 and 12 of Directive (EU) 2020/2184 within the Italian regulatory framework, we presented the industry’s perspective on the minimum hygiene requirements for materials, reagents and filter media used in the treatment of water intended for human consumption.
We welcomed a regulatory framework that strengthens the quality of products and processes across the entire value chain. At the same time, we stressed the need to apply equally clear and rigorous criteria to chemicals used in wastewater treatment, in line with the DNSH – Do No Significant Harm principle.
Our circular economy initiatives—such as the production of ferric chloride from steel industry by-products—demonstrate that innovation, sustainability, and safety can go hand in hand.
Clear and consistent rules for all stakeholders are essential to protect consumers, support responsible companies, and enhance the quality of both treated water and sludge.
Esseco Industrial will continue to contribute actively, bringing the voice of the industry to key technical and regulatory discussions.
